Dr. Aaron Breaux and our team love to see the reaction of our patients after we've restored their damaged smile. Using the most updated techniques and materials, we design beautiful dental crowns and bridges that will boost your self-confidence and give you a reason to smile.
Dental Crowns Strengthen Teeth
If a tooth is too damaged or decayed to treat with a filling, we may recommend that a dental crown be placed to restore and preserve the tooth. A dental crown is a cap that fits right over the tooth to replace lost structure and restore functionality. The best candidates for crowns are people who have experienced serious dental damage or decay.
Dental crowns are versatile and serve many purposes:
- Protecting teeth worn by grinding or dental erosion
- Strengthening a tooth after root canal treatment
- Restoring dental implants
- Protecting cracked or fractured teeth
It depends on your individual needs, but the process of placing dental crowns usually takes place over two to three visits. First, we prepare your natural tooth so that your new crown will fit perfectly. Then we’ll take impressions that will be used as a mold for the crown. We'll send the mold to our dental lab, and in about two weeks we'll have you return to our Bakersfield dental office for placement of your permanent crown. The result is a healthier tooth that functions properly and enhances your smile.
Replace Missing Teeth with Bridges
Missing teeth look unattractive, undermine your self-confidence, and make chewing and speaking a problem. However, a dental bridge restores function, benefits your oral health, and improves your appearance. We often use dental bridges in the following ways:
- Filling the space left by a missing tooth
- Preventing surrounding teeth from shifting out of place
- Providing a permanent alternative to a removable partial denture
A properly designed dental bridge is securely attached to neighboring teeth and is very stable. In certain cases it may be beneficial to use dental implants to add stability.
